Research shows that sunflower shoots offer excellent nutritional and medicinal benefits.

Sunflower shoots contain a surprising 25 percent protein, plus they are a good source of vitamins A, C, E, K, and B6 as well as folate and iron. 

They have a nutty, slightly sweet flavor with a pleasing, crunchy texture and are absolutely delicious. Try adding them to your salads, in fact because of their size they can replace lettuce in a salad and become the main feature. They are great in smoothies, on top of eggs and you can even substitute them for spinach in any recipe. The possibiliies are endless. 

Your sunflower shoots come in a commercially compostable PLA container so they stay fresher for longer than a bag. PLA is a compostable bioplastic derived from plant sugars and can biologically degrade within a few days, up to a few months but the temperatures must be above 55-70ºC. As we make our own compost at high temperatures you can return the container to us and we will compost it for you.
